Happy Tails - Maya loves playing in the snow in West Virginia

Meet Maya: From a Texas Shelter to a Loving Family

Maya, once known as Carrie, was a scared, homeless young pup who needed a second chance.

Take Me Home transported Maya to a rescue in West Virginia where a family quickly realized how special she is and gave her a forever home!

Today, she lives with a family who spoils her with love. Her new mom sent us this update that brought us such joy:

Maya is so wonderful and so intellectual.  She understands me.  She is awesome in every way and truly a blessing to me.  She sits her bottom on my lap or on furniture but has her front legs on the floor.  She's so cute doing this. She and her Maine Coon brother sleep together and share couch time (with Maya's legs on the floor ;). She's answer to my prayers.  At the time I adopted her my heart needed mending.  She has mended my heart and filled my life with such joy. You have made a big difference in our lives.  She could have been euthanized and me still lonely.  But you gave us life together filled with love and happiness.  We have a wonderful life..”

Maya’s story reminds us of why we do what we do. Every transport, every adoption, every second chance given to a shelter animal changes lives—not just for the pets but for the families who welcome them home.

We’re so grateful to Maya’s family for opening their hearts and home and sharing their love. And to everyone who supports our mission, thank you for helping us create happy endings like this. Together, we’re giving animals like Maya the life they deserve.

If you’d like to help us save more lives, consider donating, volunteering, or adopting from an animal shelter. Every effort makes a difference! ❤️
