Meet Maverick: From a Texas Shelter to a Loving Family

Maverick, once known as Cookie Crisp, was a scared little puppy who needed a second chance. He and his siblings and their mom were living on the streets in rural central Texas.

Take Me Home transported Maverick (and his siblings and Mom) to a rescue in New Hampshire where a family quickly realized how special he is and gave him the best gift - a forever home!

Today, he lives with a family who spoils him with love. His new mom sent us this update:

“Here is Cookie Crisp.  He completed his journey to his furever home in NH in mid December.  His brothers and sisters were being adopted the same day as they are all so cute and well mannered.  Cookie's new name is Maverick. He joins his new big sister Koda and a cat that's not yet thrilled with the new addition!  He's done very well adjusting and it helps to have a good big sister to show the way!  So far he's mastered the concept of stairs - they were baffling day 1.  He's doing very well with his recall and has mastered how to sit especially if treats are involved.  And for some reason we can't understand, he adores the cold and snow!!”

Maverick’s story reminds us of why we do what we do. Every transport, every adoption, every second chance given to a shelter animal changes lives—not just for the pets but for the families who welcome them home.
